Mixing it Up
By: Courtney Goss
Just the other week I took my first visit to Studio A. I didn't expect much out of my visit because I knew I was going to just a college studio but upon arrival I was completely in shock. There was a recording studio, a huge set and lights and cameras everywhere. I happened to get there right in time to see the preparation of a show and I was completely impressed with what I saw. I sat back and watched the students prepare for that nights taping for a little while before I had the pleasure of interviewing the director, Mary Feeley. She informed me that they were setting up for a show called The Mix which she described as an entertainment show. She said that, the content is light. It isn't a news show, rather an entertainment news show. The Mix is comparable to The Soup on the E! News channel and is lighthearted and funny. Some examples of its more serious segments though are interviews with art students and a segment called, The Spot, that discusses different places to eat in Pullman. There are six new episodes per semester and it is on every other weekday. I asked Feeley what her favorite part of being the director of the show was and she said that she, just enjoyed being there. It is a collaborative effort and (she) loves seeing everything come together. After seeing the professional, impressive set I have to agree with her. It is amazing how hard everyone works together to put out such a tremendous product.

New show sets bar high
Check out the new series Garage Film. It premiered last night, but if you missed it, don't worry! It will air all this week at 7:15 p.m. on channel 8. Check out the Garage Film fan page to keep updated. Also, check out the title sequence!
Alex is a student, stuck in summer school. He seems to hate life...or he really gets a kick out of the whole emo thing, pout face, dragging feet and shoulders slumped, god he is depressing. ...I'm sure it is the latter, but I couldn't hear the TV. I guess that is a risk you take when you live with three other girls...anyways...
He is assigned to make a 10 minute movie with an assigned group for the class final. Overbearing and overachieving, Shauna, designates herself as the director of the movie and comes up with the concept and the script. The script is so cheesy that probably only a ten-year-old girl could stay entertained. Alex's womanizer friend ,Chris, suggest that Alex rewrite it. Alex seemingly blows off the idea, but really we all know that he is going to do it. God, I hope he writes it better. ...
Grade: B+
Garage Film is the only scripted drama on Cable 8 Productions. Some shots needed a de-interlace filter and the sound was a little soft in the beginning (but again, could be due to roomies). The title sequence looked really nice, again check out their fan page to see that. Overall the show looks good and we can't wait for the next episode.

Get Hooked Up!
Things are heating up on the set of Get Hooked Up, a new reality show airing on Cable 8. It features a group of sexy girls from all over campus competing for the affection of one lucky bachelor. With more of a Flavor of Love vibe, Get Hooked up is steering away from the old dating game style and bringing some new school reality programming to Cable 8.
During the first day of production the girls were told that the cameras were never going to be turned off, and that mud wrestling and a Slip N’ Slide were just some of the contests Get Hooked Up has in store for them. The girls have been hand-picked from all over college hill and Greek Row and all of them have different reasons for wanting to participate. Some said they wanted to find the man of their dreams, while others stated simply that they just wanted to hook up with someone.
The show is being shot raw so viewers won’t miss any of the action, and with all of the different personalities among the contestants there is sure to be a lot of it. Producers also talked about giving viewers a chance to come watch events like the Slip N’ Slide by shooting them live on campus. Students should be excited about Get Hooked Up because it’s a chance for them to watch real WSU girls compete for the affection of one man – along with all of the drama that is sure to accompany that.
Even before taping began it was clear that some of the girls weren’t going to get along with others. Some rolled their eyes as others talked about how they were looking for true love; others guaranteed that they would make it to the very end of the show. It was hard for the producer to contain his excitement because he knew that they had selected the perfect group of girls. Viewers should be eager to tune in and view the fun because one thing is for sure – some girls will get lonely, and some will Get Hooked Up.
